About Author

Zawadi Sakapalla-Ukondwa is a writer, early childhood literacy advocate, and co-founder of the Sakapala Community Center in Tanzania. A wife, mother of two, and her children currently study at the University of Maryland and Harvard Law School. She writes children’s books that celebrate Tanzanian culture, promote kindness, and inspire curiosity. Her Let’s Go series, including Let’s Go Volunteer, Let’s Go to Grandma, and Let’s Go to Safari, is inspired by real family experiences, especially her daughter Mariam’s journey of discovering the joy of giving back. Proceeds from her books support early education programs at the Sakapala Community Centre. Residing in Howard County, Maryland, Zawadi champions literacy, skill-building, and cultural awareness across the U.S. and Tanzania. She serves in leadership roles within U.S. diaspora organizations and has been recognized for her work, including honors from Tanzania’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs.
